Awards announced for the first season of the ‘Indie World Film Festival’ which focuses to celebrate Film Makers and Creators around the world, who take a risk and do experiments in Film Making. The festival holds a screening for our hand-selected jury members, made up of industry personnel and film fans, where we showcase some of that month’s nominated films. After the screening is over, the jury members vote to decide the winners. Screenings are a jury-member only event, and are not open to the general public. This is a Kerala-based jury-member-only event and is not open to the general public.
‘Mateka’ from Tanzania, United Republic Of, directed by Tom Johns won Best Feature Film Award. ‘Mateka’ also bagged additional four awards. ‘Shujaa Wetu’ from the same director won the best actor award. Russian actress Natalya Surkova bagged the Best Actress Award for her performance in the film film ‘Clownery’. ‘The Trash’ (India) directed by Ahkilesh Kunnuchi was chosen as Best Short Film. Malayalam actor HarI Shilpi won the Best Actor award in Short Film Category for the same short film.
‘Keni- Preserving Indigenous Food Culture’, a documentary produced by the National Institute of Advanced Studies won the award for Best Documentary film. A total of 147 films from 680 entries from 24 countries were considered for the competition. A total of 87 awards have been announced for the first season of the festival.
